Hvaler & Østfold Coast Photography
Coastal Landscapes, Storms & Nature Photography from Hvaler, Norway
Explore the rugged coastal landscapes of Hvaler and the Østfold coast in southeastern Norway through photography by Trond Johansen, nature photographer and filmmaker based in Sarpsborg.
My photography from Hvaler includes the islands of Vesterøy, Spjærøy, Asmaløy and Kirkøy, where the Oslofjord meets the open sea. The archipelago is also home to the spectacular Ytre Hvaler National Park, Norway’s first marine national park, known for its open sea, islands, skerries and distinctive coastal landscape.
I am especially drawn to the changing character of the Hvaler coast – smooth coastal rocks, granite landscapes, quiet reflections, dramatic storms, waves, sunsets and constantly changing light.
Locations featured in my photography include Kuvauen, Guttormsvauen and Papper on Vesterøy, Viker on Asmaløy, and other coastal landscapes throughout the Hvaler archipelago and Ytre Hvaler National Park. The photographs range from peaceful summer evenings and calm seas to powerful weather, waves and exposed coastal scenery.
Hvaler is part of Østfold, Norway, and one of the coastal areas I regularly photograph alongside nature and landscapes around Sarpsborg and southeastern Norway.
